Peg McCarthy (Peggy or Margaret)

Dear Reader,

If you are looking for a charitable cause to donate to, please consider this one. Peg McCarthy is one of the hardest working, biggest-hearted people I know, and she needs help. While this is something she would never ask for in a million years, she has led a life of serving others, and she is in need and could really use a hand. Peg was the second born of 11 children and went on to have six children beginning at the age of 20. After 18 years of being in a complicated relationship, she became a single mother. During those years, she worked tirelessly at three different jobs to keep a roof over everyone’s head and as much food on the table as she could. Even while she struggled with her finances, she never turned down helping someone else in need and never complained about her situation. Peg will always drop what she is doing to help an acquaintance, friend, or family member. She has taught me the importance of showing people gratitude (like giving our trash service men and women little gifts), she always put “homeless bags” together in case she sees someone in need, etc. I could go on and on about how Peg helps others. This is who she is… even to this day, she helps others above herself, but today I want to ask for help on her behalf.

Two weeks ago, when Peg was at work, she had a brain injury that caused blood to fill her brain cavity. She underwent surgery that opened her skull to drain the blood out. Due to her age, the nature of the surgery, and post-surgery complications, the recovery will take an extremely long time, much longer than we hoped or anticipated. Therefore, she will not be able to work any time soon. Being a single mother of six children and the giving person she is, she always cared for others instead of taking care of herself. Since she cannot work, she needs help covering her bills. I know that she would disagree with setting up this Go Fund Me, but one thing that I have learned is that while it is essential to be self-sufficient and be able to take care of yourself, I also know that sometimes people need a bit of help to get them back to self-sufficiency. Please know that if you choose to donate, your gift will be appreciated more than words can say.

Thank you!
Sincerely,
Peg's Family
