Pediatric Therapists seek Hurricane Relief
Donation protected
Kidspot is a pediatric therapy clinic in Palmetto, Florida, that is in need of your help. We are a small clinic that has pediatric therapists in the school system who provide therapy services to children in need in the Manatee County school district. When the schools close for a hurricane, the therapists do not get paid. Since Manatee County closed for 5 days, these therapists will not get paid for a full week as the district has decided to not make up those days. Pediatric therapists in the state of Florida are already on a tight budget due to low reimbursement, lost wages from COVID and ever-rising living costs. The loss of a full week's pay is a major hit to many of our therapists' bank accounts. A large number of our employees are single family incomes, with no one to help shoulder the financial burden.
Our therapists are devoted to helping children with disabilities and developmental delays. They provide compassion and care to the families and children in the community, helping them pursue their goals and reach their full potential. They are not in this career to make money; they enjoy helping families and children succeed. It is a tearful meeting when one of our therapists is forced to resign from doing what they love and know makes a difference, to accept a higher-paying position in a setting that reimburses more.
Our goal is to recover the therapists' lost wages, so they are able to continue to assist our children in Manatee County. Kidspot has been in business for 30 years but had a change of ownership in January 2022. As a new business owner, unfortunately, I do not have the savings to cover the lost revenue used to pay benefits, material costs, overhead and lost wages. Any assistance is greatly appreciated as these therapists work so hard for the children in our area. I want to show my support as a new business owner and help my staff in any way I can.
