Pedals, Pools and Peaks Challenge for Birmingham Says No

This summer I'm completing 3 physical challenges to fundraise for Birmingham Says No, a Birmingham based anti-knife crime charity doing great work across Birmingham to educate, inform and inspire the youth of Birmingham on the lasting impact knife crime can have, whilst keeping it fun and engaging.

In 2021, one of my brothers good friends, Amin Talea, was attacked outside his own home and didn't make it out of hospital.

Seeing and feeling the heartbreak caused by such a cowardly act inspired me to try and make an impact.

It's become all too common for another young person to be the innocent victim of another knife crime attack. We can't bring him back, but what we can do is educate as many people as possible to prevent this from happening to others in the future.

Having seen the approach Rachel and Dee from Birmingham Says No take first hand in making a difference, I knew from the first call that it would be their charity that I would be working with.

Birmingham Says No organise events and courses for the youth of Birmingham and always include an educational aspect. They use people with lived experiences to discuss their stories, whether it be a victim or a perpetrator. Prevention is always better than cure, but another thing they do is Bleed Control Courses where a specialist will show a group of people what to do if someone they know were to get stabbed.
