My name is Shonel, and this isn’t just a challenge… this is everything to me.
This July, I’m attempting to cycle 14,200km around Australia in under 80 days; not because I’m an elite athlete, not because I have years of experience… but because I started from nothing, and I know what it feels like to be at your lowest.
A year ago, I wasn’t a cyclist.
I was someone trying to find a reason.
This ride is for the people who feel like they don’t belong.
For the ones who feel lost, stuck, or like they’re carrying everything on their own.
For the people sitting there right now, wondering if things ever actually get better.
Because I’ve been that person.
And this journey; every kilometre, every hard day, every moment where I want to quit - is a reflection of that fight. It’s not just physical. It’s mental. It’s emotional. It’s showing, in real time, what it looks like to keep going when things feel heavy.
I’m not backed by big sponsors.
I’m not a professional.
In the world of endurance sport, I’m a nobody.
But that doesn’t mean this story doesn’t matter.
Because this isn’t about titles.
It’s about impact.
It’s about proving that ordinary people can do extraordinary things — and that your story, no matter where you’re starting from, is worth something.
This GoFundMe is what gets me to the start line.
It covers the reality of this journey; the travel, the food, the gear, the bike, the support vehicle; everything it takes to make this possible. Without this, the ride doesn’t happen.
And that’s the truth.
Alongside this, I am fundraising for the International Association for Suicide Prevention; because this is bigger than me.
ALL PROFITS will go directly to IASP, supporting suicide prevention and mental health initiatives worldwide.
This is about showing people they are not alone.
That people do care.
That there is a way through; even if you can’t see it yet.
I’ll be documenting the entire journey, every single day, to reach the people who need to see it most.
If you can donate - thank you.
If you can share - thank you.
If you’re simply following along - that matters more than you know.
Because every bit of support proves something powerful:
People care.
You matter.
And your story isn’t over yet.
