Pearls Get Well Fund ⚓️

After many requests from friends we have set up a Go Fund Me page to support our little Pearly to Walk and Talk again.

**Update We have upped our target cost to reflect recent treatments that we have been informed could help our Pearlys brain such as Oxygen therapy, cranial sacral and also to help support our living costs whilst we care for Pearl full time.

Pearl became sick on the 29th of April with what we thought was just a normal child’s sickness bug. It quickly progressed into a high fever and although many of the symptoms were normal some of them were scary and potentially indicative of something worse! One of these was the spasms and convulsions. It was incredibly distressing to see our Pearly like this!

It was hard to know what to do but we called 111 and had an ambulance sent out to us. Since then we have been in and out of hospital 4 times, have had various different assessments and tests and each time although we were told they were very concerned, we couldn’t pin point what was causing pearlys illness. Again we hoped it would just get better and that it was just a horribly intense fever with febrile convulsions which can often harmless, but she didn’t recover properly.

After the fever had gone and over a week had passed by our little pearly just wasn’t the same. She was an empty shell of the daughter we knew. Her bubbly playful chatty self was just not there. It’s been absolutely heartbreaking and as parents, our worse nightmare. She has not spoken a single word or sat or up or walked for over a week now.

She is stable at this point in the sense that she is eating, sleeping, breathing well and she is alert and present with us. She is able to smile and giggle which is giving us so much hope and faith right now that we can bring her back to full life and expression.

We have been back to the hospital, and are in and out in between the tests to take

care of our pearl at home. This has been our own decision to care for her at home and not in the hospital. We want her to be comfortable and cared for in the best way possible and the hospital environment just didn’t seem like the place for that.

We do not have an offical diagnosis and the doctors have said we may never find one. They have explained that these types of things can be hard to pinpoint because the brain is such a complex Organ. But what we are looking at is potential inflammation of the brain/encephalitis caused by a viral illness. This is potentially why nothing has shown up on the blood tests or assessments.

We would like to raise the money for her rehabilitation process as would like to take her for various alternative treatments including oxygen therapy, cranial sacral (& many more) good quality organic supplements, and organic food to really support her brain and body to come back online and heal properly. She needs full time care right now so both mine and Tris’ work is on hold. We would also like to take her to lots of exciting places like the zoo and the aquarium to stimulate her brain and try and bring her out of her shell. As you all know these things are so expensive at the moment. We want our baby girl walking and talking again. Who knows how long this process may take. It could take weeks, it could take months, and I won’t even mention the worse case scenario as that’s not where we are focusing our energy.
