Last year on thanksgiving I had no plans and no family to spend time with, so instead of sitting at home being sad and lonely I decided I wanted to give back. I was very broke at the time but I went to Walmart where they sell fleece blankets and bought every one they had on the shelves. I then headed out to the streets to look for those in need because the cold and rainy season had just started. Once I got out there though, I realized there was so many more people desperate for help than I had even realized. I gave out all the blankets I had but I knew I had barely made a dent in those who needed help. I went to the next nearest Walmart and then battled the Black Friday madness that had just begun to them but every fleece blanket THEY had as well. Some of my friends had heard about what I was doing and had sent me some money to put towards it. I spent every penny I had as well as the money sent to buy every blanket I could afford and bring it out. Spending that time out there and listening to all their stories made me way more serious about helping them this year. It also showed me that even just a few dollars can change so many lives. There were people on the brink of giving up who were given so much hope just to know someone cares. So this year I want to do even better. I plan on making little care kits hopefully with water, blankets, proteins bars, and whatever other essentials I’m able to afford after this campaign. Just know that even $5 is two blankets that can change two whole peoples night. And if you aren’t able to give you could help just as much by sharing my campaign. Thank you!!
