Peace is Possible Peace Flag Community Project
Hello!
My name is Machai St. Rain and I'm inspired to build and strengthen a world peace community through music, touring and asking people to create peace flags that represent their support of the peace movement. I'm asking people who are committed to taking meaningful action in their lives to stand for peace to make a flag that will become part of a peace spiral with a message of peace to all who see it. My goal is to bring the message that peace is possible into the spotlight and take meaningful action to create an active cohesive peace community.
Research by Harvard Professor Erica Chenoweth has shown that non-violent reform has become TWICE as effective as violent social revolution attempts through the 20th century. And most remarkable of all...a mere 3.5% of the population dedicated to a cause and willing to take non-violent action is highly effective in creating change.
3.5% 11.5 million Americans believing in change. Believing in the possibilities of the world we COULD create IF we gave peace a chance.
Making a culture of peace a household word in the US is my goal. To inspire the next generation of leaders to believe that peace is a worthy goal that we can reach.
I was recently invited to be on stage at the United Nations International Peace Day event in Times Square on Sept. 21, 2022.
To make the biggest impact I can, I want to bring along as many people as possible with me, so the idea of the "Peace Flag" was born. Lightweight silk flags with a message of peace will be unfurled in Times Square to represent our voices for peace and then will continue to tour around the US to inspire a new sense of strength and cohesion in the Peace Community as the spiral grows.
I need funds to support the tour to New York City and beyond. Money will provide:
~Art supplies/Silk/Grease Pencils/Twine
~Gas and travel expenses (I often have hosts or camp, but camping costs money and isn't always practical. Occasional Airbnbs and food on the road are needed.)
~Videography/social media and outreach costs
This project allows people to focus their imagination and intention onto a Peace Flag that will carry their message, encouraging and inspiring others to believe that a peaceful world is possible. This will have a powerful effect in turning the tide toward a peaceful world.
Please contact me with any questions or suggestions. Thank you in advance for your participation and support.
