Peace for Kera
Donation protected
My beautiful niece, Kera Buchanan, began a frightful journey three years ago when she was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. After surgery and many months of chemo and radiation, and just over one year later, the cancer metastasized to her lungs. Two weeks ago, after suffering a grand mal seizure, we were informed that the cancer has now moved to her brain and they have given Kera only weeks to live. Kera lives in Benton, Arkansas.
Kera's sister, Kayla, is a cardiac nurse and a single mother of two. She is amazing and a most caring young woman who loves her sister and only wants to make her comfortable throughout her final days. Kayla chose to take a leave of absence from work to take care of Kera and to be by her side. Kayla was denied FMLA because taking care of her sister didn't qualify for FMLA. Siblings don't qualify.
I ask for your help to keep Kera and Kayla together during this time. They are sisters and best friends and they need each other more now than ever before. This support will enable Kayla to take time off from work without pay. Your donation will be used to help pay her household bills such as rent and utilities, insurance, food, gas, child care, and other household expenses while she cares for her sister throughout the upcoming weeks.
Kera is only 38 years old. She is a most beautiful soul and we are so very thankful for our time together. While we can't imagine our life without her, and our family is heartbroken, Kera's final days will bring her peace by spending this time with her sister, Kayla, who will care for her.
This is Kera's final wish.
Thank you so very much. We are grateful and your kindness and support are so appreciated. ♥
