Bonjour !

Je m’appelle Charles de Canecaude, j’ai 16 ans et je suis le fils de Baudouin et Catherine. Je  vous écris car je vais partir au mois de juin pour ma première vraie mission de bénévolat. Le but est d’enseigner l’anglais à des enfants d’écoles primaires qui vivent dans des villages de  Thaïlande aux confins du Cambodge et du Laos. Je passerai aussi une journée à me rendre utile dans un hôpital qui soigne les éléphants qui ont toujours été le symbole de la sagesse en Asie mais qui sont maintenant en voie de disparition.

Je pars avec une organisation américaine très célèbre et très sérieuse qui a été créée par le Président Kennedy  et qui s’appelle les Peace Corps. Comme je ne suis pas majeur, je serai avec l’association qui forme les adolescents. Cette mission évidemment va coûter cher car l’idée est de tout payer  (billets d’avion, nourriture, logement etc...) pour que l’association humanitaire ne dépense rien et se consacre entièrement aux gens que l’on vient aider. J’ai fait un emprunt à mes parents et c’est un effort que je fais pour partager avec ceux qui sont sans ressource….

Si vous avez envie de vous associer à ce projet et que vous pouvez y participer financièrement, merci d’avance pour les enfants et les éléphants. Si vous n’avez pas la possibilité de le faire, vos encouragements seront déjà beaucoup et je les transmettrai avec enthousiasme aux écoliers auxquels je vais enseigner.

A la fin de mon séjour là-bas, je vous ferai un compte-rendu de cette expérience dont je me souviendrai sûrement toute ma vie.

VOLUNTEERING IN THAILAND   -   Charles de Canecaude

Hello !

My name is Charles de Canecaude, I am 16 years old and I am the son of Baudouin and Catherine. I am writing to you because I will be leaving in June for my first real volunteer assignment. The goal is to teach English to primary school children who live in villages in Thailand on the borders of Cambodia and Laos. I will also spend a day making myself useful in a hospital that treats elephants that have always been the symbol of wisdom in Asia but are now endangered.

I'm going with a very famous and very serious American organization that was created by President Kennedy and is called the Peace Corps. Since I am not of age, I will be with the association that trains teenagers. This mission obviously will be expensive because the idea is to pay for everything (air tickets, food, accommodation etc ...) so that the humanitarian association does not spend anything and dedicates itself entirely to the people that one comes to help.

If you want to join this project and if you can participate financially, thank you in advance for children and elephants. If you do not have the opportunity to do so, your encouragement will already be much and I will pass them enthusiastically to the schoolchildren to whom I will teach.

At the end of my stay there, I will give you an account of this experience that I will surely remember all my life.
