We never imagined we would have to share something like this, but on February 22nd, just hours after his birthday, our worst nightmare became a reality. Our father was detained and is now facing deportation. As children of immigrants, this has always been a fear in the back of our minds but we never thought it would truly happen to us. Since that day, our family has been doing everything in our power to prevent being separated. Unfortunately, being under this hateful system made this fight incredibly difficult. Our father is not a criminal. He is not dangerous. He came to this country at just 18 years old to build a life with our mother and to create opportunities for his future children that he never had himself. Together, our parents raised four loving daughters who need their dad now more than ever. He is hardworking, supportive, and deeply loving but most importantly, he is our family’s provider. Without him here, our mother is facing an overwhelming financial burden, especially while caring for our 8 year old little sister. Due to ongoing medical reasons, our mother has not been able to work for several years and is not in a position to immediately take on the responsibility of supporting our household and prepare for this legal battle alone. During this incredibly painful time, we are asking for any support you may be able to give. Every bit of help truly makes a difference for our family. We also kindly ask for privacy as we process, grieve, and try to stay strong for one another. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.
