Greetings,
This gofundme is being created on behalf of baby Brock Henderson and his Mommy Brooke Henderson... Kindly find his story below.
On April 8th 2020, at 38 weeks gestation, Brooke gave birth to Brock Henderson. Brock was taken immediately due to difficulty breathing. Brock remained hospitalized in the ICU for seven weeks. During Brock's hospitalization the physicians discovered numerous medical issues.
Brock was diagnosed with Bilateral Clubfeet, Small Cleft Palate, ASD, Micrognathia & Larynogomalacia. All characteristics of what was later discovered and attributed to Brock's rare genetic disorder. The genetic team at Children’s Hospital discovered that Brock was born with 47 Chromosomes. The 47th chromosome was made up from a combination half of the 14th and 16th chromosome. Medically described as Partial Trisomy 14q and Partial Trisomy 16q combined.
Brock has since had a few surgeries, the first being a Laryngoscopy to open up his airway and several months of casting and a Achilles Lengthening procedure to help correct Brock's Bilateral clubfeet. On August 2nd, 2021 Brock was scheduled for a combined surgery, Ear Tubes, Anal Fistulation and Corrective Eye Surgery. Brock was labeled as having a Critical Airway prior to these procedures due to difficulty with maintaining airway during procedures. Before Brocks procedures began he went into Cardiac Arrest twice while undergoing anesthesia. Brock was resuscitated both times. Brooke was told that because Brock was a critical airway it was difficult to intubate him. Eventually the surgeons were able to stabilize Brock and proceed with the surgeries. After Brocks procedures the doctors decided to keep him intubated overnight and attempt extubating the next day. The next day turned into 1 month and 22 days, failed extubations, tons of narcotics, several desaturations, several test, temporary paralysis, bacterial infections (MRSA & Serratia) and the final result, a tracheostomy. Brock is still in the PICU at Children's Hospital suffering from withdrawals from the extensive amount of narcotics given and to monitor Brock's breathing while waiting for either a bed at pediatric rehab facility or the okay to go home with home nursing.
This has been an extremely trying time for Brooke and family. What she expected to be an in and out procedure turned into months of hospitalization. As a single mom of two Brooke has been with baby Brock daily throughout his still continuous stay at Children's Hospital as well as picking up her 12 year old daughter Madison from her first year of middle school , doing homework and returning back to the hospital to be available to talk to Brock's medical team during evening rounds. Any donations monetary or federal leave donations under title five would help Brooke as she does not qualify for Medicaid or social security due to Brooke's income which would have offered Brock the 24/7 medical care that he would need at home.
Brock's family, friends and village thank you all in advance.
