Tasheka and her three kids love their Newfield school district and their rural life. 

Six months ago, the property manager of the home they rented started making physical threats and withholding repairs. This was after Tasheka reported a roof leak that eventually caused her six year old's bedroom wall to collapse.

 

Bethli Beeman and Eric Leach, the landlords, have refused to mitigate any disrepair after they were contacted about both the threats and the habitability issues. In addition to Tasheka's home, they also own Midstate Basement Authorities, which according to it's website specializes in "waterproofing, foundation repair, cracked wall repair, and bowed wall repair,"- all issues the rental house is succumbing to, with Tasheka and her kids trapped inside. The issues eventually also included, mold, sporadic water, no heat, and melting electrical sockets.

 

Tasheka began the search for a new home as soon as things started going awry back in the summer- even with the union's help, she's been unable to find a suitably sized new rental. To make matters worse, she was served a notice of non-renewal via eviction attorney Russel Maines amid worsening conditions and physical harassment from the Leaches and their employees.

 

The Paynes deserve a place to call home! Tasheka already works a double six days a week to support her kids, and the disrepair has caused health issues, stress, and an expensive loss of personal items. Moving costs are also huge, and the family is currently attempting to flee the crumbing home. They are hoping to be to safety soon.
