Hi, I’m Henry, a 10 year veteran barber in Downtown Dallas. I love doing detailed fades and crispy edge ups. I am a husband and a father of two - so when I am not working I am being a dad! I also really enjoy playing chess, reading, working out, listening to Afro beats, making cocktails from scratch, playing drums, and being adventurous.

I am also the founder of The Weighted Cape! A hair cutting cape designed with insertable weights to transform haircuts into calming, empowering experiences for individuals who need sensory support.

The idea for The Weighted Cape came from a quiet moment at home. After buying a weighted blanket for my wife, I tried it myself and immediately felt the calming effects. That’s when the lightbulb went off: What if I could bring that same comfort into my barbershop? So I transformed a traditional cutting cape into a weighted version, initially just to add comfort for my clients.

But what started as a small upgrade quickly revealed something bigger.

I realized the weighted cape could do more than make people comfortable- it could regulate, soothe, and support those with sensory needs who struggle with haircuts. For many of these kids, a haircut isn’t just a routine task—it’s a sensory minefield. The noise, the tools, the cape itself—every part of the experience can be overwhelming. But with the right tools and approach, that can change.

Since then, I’ve become a Sensory Safe Certified barber, specializing in working with children on the spectrum. I’ve created a space where kids feel safe to just be themselves, and where parents no longer have to dread haircut day.

Now, I need your help.

This GoFundMe will allow me to offer free or reduced-cost sensory-friendly haircuts to families in my community who need them most. Your donation will go directly toward:

• Covering the cost of individualized, sensory-friendly haircuts

• Providing calming tools like weighted capes, fidgets, visual supports, toys, booster seats etc 

• Expanding into a bigger suite to give more families access to a safe, supportive environment! 

This isn’t just about hair—it’s about inclusion, dignity, and access. Every child deserves to feel seen, supported, and celebrated in the barber chair.

Update** With such huge support from the community we’ve raised our target goal. This new goal will help us offer free sensory haircuts for the ENTIRE 2026. ALL donations will go towards FREE sensory haircuts and IMPROVING the experience for families. Help us reach our goal of 20k by December 31, 2025.

Update 09-2025 Wow it only took us a month to hit our goal. Thank you all so much for your generosity we will keep the donations open because now I feel like this could be way bigger than just enhancing the sensory haircut experience. Stay tuned for more updates!
