Hi, my name is Destiney, and my Mum runs Micky’s Lounge Bar on West Parade in Rhyl.

The recent severe weather has caused significant damage to our roofs, leading to a leak dangerously close to the electrics. For safety reasons, we’ve had no choice but to close our doors until the repairs can be completed. We’ve hired a mobile unit to save as much stock as possible, but at such a busy time of year we have sadly had to turn away festive bookings.

We would like to sincerely apologise to anyone whose booking or plans we’ve had to cancel.
We know how much people look forward to their celebrations, especially at this time of year, and we are truly sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this has caused. We hope to welcome you back as soon as it’s safe to reopen.

This situation has been especially difficult because my mum commits so much of her time and energy to supporting our community. Alongside running the restaurant, she cooks and prepares meals twice a day for elderly and vulnerable people in the area. These meals are paid for, but they are incredibly important for those who rely on them—many of whom live alone, some with dementia, and often our delivery drivers are the only people they see that day. For many, it’s their only hot meal.

My mum works every single day, and most nights, to keep everything running, leaving little to no time for herself. Keeping the business open isn’t just about the restaurant—it’s about making sure these essential meals continue without interruption.

Our main priority is getting the building repaired and safe so we can reopen as quickly as possible and continue providing for our community. Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to us and would help us repair the roof, reopen safely, and keep these vital meal deliveries going.

If there are any funds left after the repairs, we’d love to use them to give something back to local people who may be struggling this Christmas. In previous years, thanks to kind donations, my mum has been able to provide free Christmas meals to those in need. If possible, we’d like to extend that kindness by offering a small gift or treat to individuals or families finding things especially hard this winter.

If anyone has tips, advice, or knows someone who may benefit from extra support this Christmas, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you so much for reading, and thank you for any support you can offer—whether that’s donating, sharing, or simply spreading the word.
