Paul's 4 Reek Climb on his 60th Birthday

My name is Paul McDermott from the north Leitrim area. I am organising a fundraiser for my 60th Birthday which is on Sunday, July 2nd with all proceeds split between the Newtownmanor Church roof renovation project and Leckaun National School Astro turf pitch project.

I plan to climb Croagh Patrick (The Reek) four times up and down on the one day. This will be a big challenge as the mountain is 764m above sea level and 14 km up and down.

I am from a farming background and I was diagnosed with Diabetes last year, which may bring an extra challenge for myself on the day of the climbs. There will be a few others joining me on the day, some for one, some for two, and some for all 4 climbs. Everyone is welcome to join me.

Newtownmanor Church is nestled in a scenic location with O'Rourkes table near by. It will be celebrating its bicentenary in 2025. The Church was originally built in very hard times. Donations are for the Church roof renovation project and upkeep. Currently its undergoing an interior painting upgrade.

St. Mary's National School plays a very important role in our small community. It is situated in the centre of the Newtownmanor area. For the pupils taking part in the sports all year round, the School is hoping to get an all weather astro turf pitch and I would like to help them to achieve this.
