With a very heavy heart, I come on here to request help for my father, Paulin Kouassi.
For the past five years, my father has been severely ill with a disease called Lou Gehrig’s (ALS). Unfortunately, as of July 1st, 2022, he has been hospitalized and in a coma.
During this difficult time, our family has not only been experiencing a lot of heartache but financial strain being as my father was our sole financial provider. As the situation stands, there are numerous expenses and bills that would need to still be covered in his absence. Finances such as the mortgage of our house, including gas, water, and electricity. Before our father was hospitalized, he had purchased a new car for the family to use. However, it has been hard to upkeep with the monthly payments. But most importantly, there are the medical bills from his stay at the hospital. As well as the payment required to move our dad out of the hospital and into a long term facility. We are estimating that our insurance will only be able to cover a fraction of the cost, leaving his family to pay the medical expenses out of pocket.
With that being said, we have also sought out a power of attorney to gain guardianship and conservatorship of my dad to access his important accounts and documents to help our him in his current state. We were informed that this is a long process and therefore are met with urgency to put this process forward. Without access to such information, we are unable to move my father out of the hospital and into a long term facility where he will reside. The family is also responsible for payments to the lawyer.
For those who know him personally, you know how much of a kind-hearted, gracious, and selfless person he is. He has always welcomed his family, friends, and strangers with a smile. My father is a man who has worked hard and tirelessly to provide a good life for his six children. He loves his family with all his heart. Even in illness, he sacrificed himself to ensure we were always cared for. We only want to do the same for him.
I ask if anyone can contribute as much as they can. Any quantity helps, big or small. Above all, prayers are especially needed right now.
On behalf of my family, we thank you all in advance as we continue to navigate through these difficult times. Please feel free to share this post so it can reach others as well. We are immensely grateful. May God bless you all.
