Patreese Johnson, of the New Jersey 4, is FINALLY getting off parole!!!
Nearly 12 years ago Patreese was one of a group of Black women who were sexually harassed on the streets of New York City's West Village. After the man threatened to rape them, threw a punch at them, Patreese and her friends resisted. During the resistance to his violence, which included him pulling hair and choking one of the women, the man who started the incident received a minor wound from a kitchen knife. It is this kitchen knife that landed Patreese in prison for the longest sentence out of the women involved, she served 7 years inside. It was an all-white jury that convicted Patreese and her three co-defendants

Patreese is a femme-identified poet. She is the youngest of four brothers and one sister. She grew up as the youngest on the block in her tight-knit community in Newark, New Jersey. She is fiercely empathetic with a big heart. While incarcerated she received her GED and ran a support group for women who were survivors of domestic violence. Since getting out she has been in and out of school, working many jobs, and speaking at countless events.
It is now time to CELEBRATE!!! After so many years in prison, and years under state control, Patreese is FINALLY going to be off parole! Being on parole has been severely limiting to Patreese's ability to maintain financial stability. She needs financial support as she gets ready to go back to school and start the next chapter of her life. Give generously! With these funds, Patreese can take more steps towards her own dreams. Your gifts mean everything.
