Patio at SIS - Nick Cirillo's Eagle Scout Project
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nick Cirillo, and I am a Life Scout in Somers Troop 228 and junior at Somers High School. For my Eagle Scout community service project, I renovated the courtyard at Somers Intermediate School, installing a 665 square foot paver stone patio and creating two raised beds where I planted several evergreen bushes.
My project is the culmination of ~470 hours of hard work by 34 volunteers, including me, my dad, Scouts, adult Scout leaders, friends, family, and with help from the district's own building administration and custodians. I have received generous material donations from Lawton Adams, The Home Depot, and Lowe's, supported by donations from friends and family.
Of course, a Scout is thrifty! Though I would love to host a bake sale or car wash, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has made it difficult for me to fund raise in traditional ways. That's where you come in - even a small donation will allow me to recoup the costs of purchasing tools, materials, food, and drinks.
I would greatly appreciate your donation! I know that the patio - named the Blue Dragonfly Patio for the friendly bugs commonly found enjoying the courtyard - will prove to be a fun, useful area for the SIS community!
Feel free to browse the images below:

Me (Nick Cirillo) in front of the completed patio

The courtyard, before and after the project

Renovating the Zen Garden

A beautiful dragonfly that stayed for 2 hours while we worked

Using a plate compactor on stone dust to create a patio base

Leveling the area and laying down paver stones

Several volunteers celebrating the patio's completion

My parents - the ultimate support team!
