In the South Wales region, around 14% of young people aged 16-24 are NEET (not in education, employment or training)?

This figure jumps to around 40% when looking at the statistics of young people with additional needs in the same area.

In secondary schools in Wales, around 47% of children with ALN are persistently absent (missing more than 10% of school)

Pathfinders Cymru aims to support the young people of Neath Port Talbot, Swansea and beyond —particularly those who are neurodivergent or may struggle with anxiety or ALN—to build confidence, develop skills, and feel a sense of belonging. Whether the ultimate aim for the child is to gain exciting educational experiences through our Home Educators programmes, the confidence to return to school, the skills they need to get into college or make the friends they want and feel better socially- our aim is to take a holistic approach to wellbeing.

We are a completely volunteer run charity and rely on donations and grant funding.

To this end, one of our amazing Trustees Martin has taken on a challenge like no other!

He, and a good friend, the legendary Captain Beany, will be walking the perimeter of NPT over 5 days from September 21st - September 25th. This epic journey will cover a total of 73 miles! Not only that but they will also be eating beans on toast 3 times a day every day, and hopefully will be joined by a few well-known faces along the way!

After the walk we are holding a 'Big Bean Bash' celebration event at Skewen Memorial Hall - more details to come!

We are really hoping that as many people as possible can donate and help us keep our fab charity running for another year.
