I would be so grateful if you could help support me to spend time with my soon to be born baby!
Perhaps some of you haven't yet heard the news! Amy Liz Webb and I are so excited to be bringing a new life into the world.
Over the past 10 + years, I've lived a life dedicated fully to helping support a healthy planet, and now it is time to bring my focus home, to help support a healthy baby and a healthy family.
Being an independent entreprenuer focused on finding solutions to climate change and social injustice through permaculture and regenerative agriculture has not made me rich in the conventional, financial capital, way of thinking about wealth. There is little financial savings in helping build soil carbon to stabilize the climate, or create business models that don't externalize the costs of pollution and slavery (YET! But that is changing). Meanwhile, the saftey net for people taking risks to help their communities doesn't exist....Unless we weave that net ourselves!
My life has made me rich with what matters most, friendship, hope, and meaning. Now I'd love to extend a tentitive and humble request to my friends and family, and the great commuity of people dedicating their lives to helping make the world a better place.
I will be doing my best to stay home for the next 5 months to be present for the birth and first tender a beautyful months of life. I want to be able to support my new family in the same way that I've supported projects to benifit communities and the earth. To do that, I'll need your help. I am working to re-arrange my work to be based more from home and centered in the bioregion we will be calling home for infancy. Our expenses will be around 2K per month, and I can shoulder 3 months of those expenses with this campaign, and I think I should be able to continue to work from home for the remaining two months of my goal of five months at home with baby!
One of my motivations for askign for help has been how I make my living. I make my livlihood traveling and supporting people, often folks with the least access to financial resources in the world. I do this independently and without compromising to work with big NGO's or corporations that in my mind don't often really manage to help anyone with big programs. That's because I believe in the power of community, of family and of individuals to make the world better with their direct relationships.
If you can, please consider offering me a little helping hand to stay home with my little one, and my lovely partner Amy, so we can welcome a new life into this world without having to have the heartbreak of leaving just to make ends meet.
