Pastor Roy and Amy's Next Chapter In Life

Roy received the call from God to preach during his midlife years. At the time he didn't know that in his retirement years God would call him to be a Pastor. Twelve years ago, Roy was called to Pastor a church in a small New Mexican town. He willingly went and a few years later, Amy, his wife joined him after her retirement. The years apart were not easy on them. After all they had been married over 40 years at the time and never lived separately. They would talk and text multiple times a day and see each other a couple of times a year and took comfort in the fact that they were following God’s will.

Throughout those and the years since, they were blessed by God, as were the church and the community. Then Pastor Roy had a heart attack and had a stent inserted. The diagnosis was Congestive Heart Failure. He has since received a pacemaker and they inserted three more stents. He is currently in Stage 3 CHF and is unable to continue his work as Pastor. Meanwhile, Amy has Diabetes and COPD. She didn’t realize she had gotten covid 19 and treated it like the flu. Afterwards, she started having trouble breathing and they were able to determine she had contracted the Omicron variant of the Coronavirus. She is now on 3 liters of Oxygen 24/7 for the rest of her life. Her stamina and strength are depleted, and she is no longer able to teach children’s Sunday School, have VBS and help Pastor Roy with various parts of the ministry and the many holiday events and get togethers they had started at the church for the whole community.

Pastor Roy has resigned from the church, and they are moving back home to Chattanooga, TN in June to an Assisted Living location. They are anticipating an improvement in Amy’s health due to moving from 6,000 ft elevation to 676 ft in Chattanooga. They also hope Pastor Roy will regain some strength. Unfortunately,
the small church wasn’t able to pay him much, he has no retirement from there and they will be living on a fixed income from Social Security. They have some savings, but not enough to move them back home and pay the deposit and first month’s room and care fees in advance.

Any help God lays on your heart to give them will be very much appreciated, as are your prayers for a safe and successful move.

God Bless you.
