Passing of husband and father at Christmas
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Megan. Raquel, my friend and co-worker, lost her husband, Martin, to cancer a few days before Christmas.
Since Martin's diagnosis in mid-2020, Raquel and Martin have fought together as best they could.
Between the cancer itself, the reality of COVID, all of the appointments, tests and treatment, they both fought tirelessly. Their belief in medical professionals and their faith kept them going.
Throughout the majority of his treatment, Martin kept working - it kept him busy and distracted him somewhat from the reality of cancer.
Raquel has been laid off her day job since October of last year due to COVID. While this allowed her more time with her family, the financial impact has been heavy.
Martin was the planner and the organizer of the family. In his final weeks, he worked with his family to explain how he tackles household and family challenges, and he designated which family members should take on which responsibilities. Which speaks to his commitment to his wife and children.
Aside from the emotional loss, Martin's death (and Raquel's continued reduced work opportunities), leave a significant financial burden behind for the family.
They are a good, loving and selfless family, who are quick to help and slow to ask the same of others.
Any donation will be appreciated, however big or small.
Through the financial support of friends and family, I hope that we can offer a bit of a cushion, and show how much we care for Raquel at this devastating time.
Thank you for any amount that you can contribute at this time.
