Help Pascal get his wheels...
Donation protected
This lovely family arrived in Perth, Australia on 21 September 2023. Having lived in a refugee camp in Kenya for the previous 10 years they are grateful to UNHCR/Red Cross for enabling them to start a new life here.
All the family are learning English and attending school/TAFE and Pascal now has a part time job. They are doing their best to become independent and employable but are reliant on Centrelink at present.
One step in this process is being able to drive. At this point the family is dependant on public transport, bicycles, uber or friends in the community to get to school, work, Sunday school and church meetings. Getting to/from school daily takes 3 hours for the older boys - precious time that could otherwise be spent doing paid work!
The eldest son, Pascal, has undertaken some driving lessons already but needs more experience on our roads to be able to pass the driving test.
The family has been donated a car, which needs some work done to make it roadworthy. (Update: This car has now been deemed not worth the time/money and we will instead purchase a secondhand, 5 seater car and will ensure a qualified mechanic's opinion is sought before purchase.
The purpose of this GoFundMe page is to raise money to get Pascal the last few driving lessons he needs and to cover the purchase of a suitable car.
So far we have had a few generous donors fund many of his lessons/test packages but we are hoping the wider community will be able to help this family get their wheels as soon as possible.
If you (or someone you know) is able and willing to donate funds it would be so appreciated.
Please feel free to forward this to anyone who may be able to assist.
