Parwaz Community Sponsorship Group

Parwaz Community Sponsorship Group (CSG) has been approved by the government of Ireland's Irish Refugee Protection Programme and is supported by the Irish Red Cross.

We are a small group of volunteers who got together to support and coordinate the resettlement of a vulnerable family as programme refugees. We are raising funds to support a family escaping persecution and oppression, to be resettled and build a new life in Ireland.

The funds will be used to support the family’s integration in Ireland during their first two years of living here. Any funds remaining after the two-year period will be offered directly to the family to support their new life, or donated to a charity that supports refugee integration in Ireland. Please note that Parwaz CSG is not a charity.

The Parwaz CSG is committed to supporting the family with accommodation and financial help for up to two years; supporting them to access education and employment opportunities; helping develop their language skills; and to introducing them to local community amenities and services to provide social networks for long-term integration. We are aiming to raise a minimum of €25,000 and the funds raised will help pay for critical services like English-language training, health expenses and educational support, directly supporting the family as they settle in.

With the supports provided by the CSG, we hope the family will thrive and be able to independently support themselves and make a valuable contribution to Irish society.

Parwaz is a word in Persian which means to fly or take flight, suggesting freedom, opportunity and the chance to excel.

Community Sponsorship Ireland (CSI) was established by the Irish government in 2018. The unique feature of the programme is that it enables people in Ireland to engage locally by directly supporting a refugee family.
