We want to save Park Slope Open Streets!
We are Fifth Avenue Open Streets Merchant Association and our mission is to keep Open Streets on 5th Avenue for the 2024 season and hopefully build a lasting, sustainable program for the future.
WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING:
1. When we heard that our local hardworking 5th Avenue BID was unable to continue this program due to lack of funding from the city, we banded together to take on the fundraising and management of the program ourselves.
2. While we are currently pursuing corporate sponsors, we have been overwhelmed by the community response from those that are asking for a place to make donations. THANK YOU!
WHAT WILL THIS FUND?
- Due to funding cuts, we are planning an adjusted approach to Open Streets in 2024:
- Park Slope Open Streets plans to operate the program every Saturday from May to November, likely with a break in August.
- To limit the strain on the avenue, we've proposed closure from President Street to 2nd Street only
- Funding for the program costs will cover Event Staffing, Safety Equipment, Insurance, Signage, Cultural Programming, and administrative costs (note: we are an all-volunteer organization!)
We are so excited by the community response and can't wait to bring this program back in 2024.
