Parker’s Medical relief fund

Many of you have followed along on sweet Parker’s journey over the last 14 months as her family has struggled to receive a solid diagnosis to provide answers for her seizures and other ongoing health concerns. Parents Anna and Joey have gone to the ends of the earth to get her in front of the best doctors at Mayo, the University of Minnesota’s Masonic Children’s Hospital, Gillette Children’s, and Columbia University. Parker is a fighter. And her family needs your help to support her fight.

Parker has seen specialists and gone through research studies to narrow the focus for the doctors’ efforts, most recently to confirm or deny the possibility of a rare GLUT1 diagnosis. She is fortunate to have seen the leading researchers in this field, but answers have started coming back as inconclusive at best, especially in recent days.

During this time, the seizures that had started to subside began to rear their ugly head. Parker has had numerous seizures, forcing Anna and Joey to administer rescue medication twice. The seizures have started to change and the dangerous spasms that were a threat in her first months have possibly returned. This has led to further ambulance rides and overnights in the hospital, all while providing little to no answers or comfort to her family.

Anna, Joey, siblings Jimmy and Bailey, and grandparents have moved mountains to find answers and give Parker her best life. All of this has come at great emotional turmoil and, of course, expense. Because of the inconclusive data and research-based efforts to dig deeper into the cause of Parker’s seizures, insurance does not cover all these costs. Additionally, Parker needs specialty equipment to help with her physical development that are not covered by insurance.

The volume of doctor appointments and emergency needs has pushed Anna onto FMLA, as her insurance company denied short-term leave. She’s allowed the time away but will not be paid for the time to help Parker on this journey. Joey and Anna are incredibly hardworking, humble, and dedicated parents that rarely ask for support, even with all of this going on. And that’s why we are here today.

You have all been so generous with your time, love, prayers, words of encouragement, hot meals, and financial support over these past 14 months. And we’re asking again to help these incredible people and badass fighter of a baby.

Help us ease their minds so they don’t have to worry about basics during this incredibly challenging time, especially on one salary. From mortgage payments, medically-driven food for Parker, and physical therapy devices to ambulance rides, their needs are broad and deep.

They wouldn’t ask for this on their own, so we’re doing so on their behalf. The burden this will lift gives them the space to be fully present in Parker’s care, as well as the dedication to Jimmy and Bailey, who desperately want to help Parker but also need Anna and Joey’s love and attention. Please donate today and help us support Parker and her family in their time of need.

With love and gratitude,
  Emily aka “The Nanny.”
