Camp Friendship Food Pantry in Park Slope

Tax deductible

Neighbors are volunteering to run a weekly food pantry in Park Slope out of Camp Friendship on 8th Street & 6th Ave to help families hit hard by the coronavirus health and economic crisis.

If you're planning to give before the year ends, please consider a tax deductible donation to Camp Friendship! We're an all volunteer effort so 100% of your funds will go to direct services...lots of fresh produce, whole chickens for the holidays, holiday toys and gifts for our neighbors in need and pantry staples! We've spent down the 70k+ we've collected so far since June 2020 -- but the needs we seek to meet persist.

Who do we serve

We provide weekly groceries for 600-800 people weekly including homebound seniors, referred to us by Heights and Hills, one of the largest providers of case management services for older adults in Brooklyn.

How we do it

It's truly a community effort. Every week approx. 50-60 volunteers, a very diverse and multigenerational group of adults and seniors, high school/college kids, local parents wear their masks, organize inventory, make deliveries using their own vehicles, stuff produce and pantry bags and staff donation tables around the neighborhood. Many other volunteers help out from home with graphic design, social media, volunteer recruitment, filling out applications and putting up flyers, etc.

How you can help:

From a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway to back-to-school backpack drive, Camp Friendship Food Pantry has found more ways to serve our community -- but at the heart is allowing clients to come select food they want for their homes, from fresh produce to non-perishable panty items. Since public sources of funding that supported us in the first year have dried up, we now spend up to $4,500/week on the items we provide to our clients.

Whether you are considering end-of-year giving, feeling fortunate to have received pandemic-EBT support for your kids' school lunch stipends, want to pitch in a little each season, or want to organize a group, congregation, block, or class into a bigger donation, we rely on your support!
