Park Bench for Dr. Phil, our Saint Francis of Lafayette Park

Dear Lafayette Park Friends and Neighbors -

Please join us in recognizing Dr. Phil Durfee, before he and his wife Sue depart this September for their next adventure in upstate New York. They are moving to be closer to their daughter.

People, parks and pets have all benefitted from Dr. Phil’s friendship and compassion over the past twelve years. Whether examining our dog’s ears or paws and providing keen vet advice, regular participation in our monthly park Cleaning & Greening events, or a neighborly conversation during a Lafayette park walk - Dr. Phil has brightened many of our days.

Behind the scenes, Dr. Phil cares for us and the park in other ways:

* Serving as one of the innovators of the holiday tree at the corner of Washington & Laguna, stringing the lights and hanging dog ornaments

* Volunteering at Vet SOS and PAWS (Pets Are Wonderful Support) for 12 years

* Providing free pet tips from puppy training, to grooming, to best homemade food mixes to soothe an upset tummy.

People like Dr. Phil make neighborhoods special, and a large city such as San Francisco a community to call home. Any contribution is welcomed, and money raised above $6000 will be donated to Friends of Lafayette Park in Dr. Phil's name. We’ll plan a get together to present the park bench plaque to Dr. Phil in September, before his move.
