Neighborhood Associates Corporation is organizing and supporting the construction of a greenhouse with educational programs for the residents of Paradise at Parkside with our partners Cultivate the City and University of the District of Columbia College for Agriculture, Urban Sustainability, and Environmental Studies (CAUSES).

Together with your support, NAC will offer learning activities at the greenhouse to increase literacy, art, knowledge of gardening, healthy living and cultural heritage in one of the largest food deserts of our country. Curricula will be tailored according to age; for kids mostly during summer school, for adults multiple times a year.

The Paradise at Parkside community in Ward 7 of North East Washington DC, is an affordable housing community of approximately 1150 predominantly African American residents with an average yearly income of $26,200. After purchasing the 672 apartment units in 1986, Telesis joined forces with over 300 resident families, numerous neighborhood groups, the police, and the Nation of Islam, for the extensive rehabilitation, construction, landscaping, and community efforts.

NAC's programs, funded with your generous support, will help give underprivileged kids the chance to grow into strong, healthy, educated adults. Gardening empowers everyone's mind, body and soul through physical activity, mental perseverance and healthy nutrition.
