Girls Sports and Development Camp

Donation protected
Help support the development of young indigenous girls in Panama by providing them with the opportunity to attend a youth development, education, and soccer camp.

In February 2016, the first Girls Sports and Development camp was held in the small town of Hato Pilon in the reservation of the Ngäbe-Buglé with conjunction with several Panamanian agencies.  The themes included: teamwork, self-esteem, women's right, domestic violence and abuse, sexual and physical health, and importance of education.  These themes were further inforced through learning soccer. To provide sustainabilty for the young women and local agencies that participated, we will be holding a follow-up camp in this same community.  Many of the same themes will be touched on but instead of being focused on teaching the girls, we would like them to in turn teach us what they have learned.

Thirty girls age 9-15 participated in the first camp with the help of 10 women facilitators.  We expect to have just as good of a turn out for the second camp.  Please support these young women as they take steps towards forming their future.
