Pam Ellard and family
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Issy and I am fundraising to help support my auntie Pam and her family. She is a single mother to 4 including Jamie (16) and sian (14). Over the past few years they have experienced multiple bereavements of close family members including the loss of their dad in February 2021. In December 2022 their lives were turned upside down again when Jamie suddenly collapsed at home. He was taken to Warwick hospital where he underwent an MRI scan and was rushed to Birmingham children’s hospital for emergency surgery. Scans showed he had a tumour attached to his spinal cord and had permanently damaged vertebrae in his lower back. Following partial removal of his tumour and installation of stabilising rods to his spine, Jamie was in critical condition with no movement or control of his lower limbs.
For the next 8 month Pam remained by Jamie’s bedside 24/7 while he recovered from surgery, isolating them from Sian, family and friends. Sian remained at home cared for by our auntie Sue. After many months in Birmingham he was moved to Stoke Mandeville for rehabilitation which was hampered by constant infections.
In July 2023 Pam and Jamie were able to return home, but with Jamie still bed bound. Their home was not ideal for his long term needs, Jamie has since lived in their living room with no bathroom facilities. Pam has now been offered accommodation which has the potential to be adapted to allow Jamie to have his own privacy and independence.
To allow Pam and family to move forward we would like to help get the house sorted and create a wheelchair friendly garden. As most of you know Pam has a heart of gold and is always ready to help others when needed. Anything given will be greatly appreciated by the family.
