Palestinian brother Arafat Siham Abu El-Haj

إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون

Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we return.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased)."

Our beloved Father and Husband, Arafat Siham Abu El-Haj, has sadly passed away at the age of 78 on the 13th of Shaban.

Arafat was a resilient man who fought many battles throughout his life. He endured chronic health issues and restricted mobility after a work accident 40 years ago while working as an oil rigger. For the past 20 years, he has been in the loving care of his wife as he struggled with these health challenges, which kept him from working.In his final years he suffered from Alzheimer’s leaving him bed bound.

Arafat leaves behind his wife and children, and while we mourn his loss, the family now faces additional burdens, both emotional and financial. With his passing, they are left to manage the costs of rent, utilities and daily living expenses. His wife, who works part-time as a midday assistant, is now left to shoulder these responsibilities alone.

وعنه قال‏:‏ قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏:‏ ‏ "‏إذا مات ابن آدم انقطع عمله إلا من ثلاث‏:‏ صدقة جارية ،أو علم ينتفع به، أو ولد صالح يدعو له‏"‏ ‏(‏‏(‏رواه مسلم‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

توفي والدنا وزوجنا الحبيب، عرفات سيهام أبو الحاج، للأسف عن عمر يناهز 78 عاما في الثالث عشر من شعبان.

كان عرفات رجلا مرنا خاض العديد من المعارك طوال حياته. لقد تحمل مشاكل صحية مزمنة وتقييد الحركة بعد حادث عمل قبل 40 عاما أثناء عمله كمحفار نفطي. على مدى السنوات العشرين الماضية، كان في رعاية محبة لزوجته حيث كافح مع هذه التحديات الصحية، والتي منعته من العمل. في سنواته الأخيرة عانى من مرض الزهايمر الذي تركه مقيدا بالسرير.

يترك عرفات زوجته وأطفاله وراءه، وبينما نحزن على خسارته، تواجه الأسرة الآن أعباء إضافية، عاطفية ومالية على حد سواء. مع وفاته، يتركون لإدارة تكاليف الإيجار والدفن ونفقات المعيشة اليومية. زوجته، التي تعمل بدوام جزئي كمساعدة في منتصف النهار، تركت الآن لتحمل هذه المسؤوليات بمفردها.
