UAlberta Sororities is a College Panhellenic Association, and the governing body of the four sororities at the UofA campus: Alpha Gamma Delta, Delta Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Pi Beta Phi. Our current membership is approximately 190 members, and our mission is to endorse lifelong friendship, scholarship, leadership, and community service. Because of our commitment to better ourselves and the community, UAlberta Sororities will be hosting an annual philanthropy event in support of All Cycles, an Edmonton non-profit organization.
All Cycles Edmonton seeks “to provide menstrual products to the homeless and income insecure,” as well as “destigmatize menstruation...from an inherently feminine experience.” Very seldom are menstrual products found at shelters for men, and this is a source of anxiety for specifically homeless trans-gendered individuals, as purchasing products is not financially feasible, and making their needs known can be dangerous. All Cycles addresses these concerns by donating products to shelters, and promotes inclusivity through their education training events. Their current beneficiaries include: Parkland Pregnancy Support Centre, Old Strathcona Youth Services, Recovery Acres, iHuman, CHEW Project YEG, The George Spady Society and more.
UAlberta Sororities is establishing a scholarship fund in order to provide assistance to our current and future members, because financial barriers inherently limit our ability to be an inclusive organization. The goal is to fundraise $1000 and donate 75% of the proceeds to All Cycles, and the remainder to building UAlberta Sororities scholarship fund.
