Dear Friends & Family,

I am overjoyed to let you know that I have been accepted to serve for a second year in Brisbane, Australia with Pais! I will continue working with Springwood Church of Christ, but I will be taking on a leadership role as a team leader of the new incoming team. The new group of Pais apprentices will be arriving in August and I will have the opportunity to mentor, encourage, and lead them during their year in Australia. I will be working in this position from August 2016 through December 2017, a total of 16 months.

Most importantly, I am in need of prayers for not only myself, but for my team and the youth that we will be working with throughout the next year. I am also asking that you partner with me and give support through whatever donation you feel comfortable giving. I am looking to raise $500 per month for 16 months, which is $8,000 total. This will cover my monthly expenses, health insurance, visa cost, and plane tickets. Monthly donations are especially helpful, and can be set up through either the gofundme or paismovement websites. You will be making a huge difference in the lives of hundreds of youth through supporting this mission.

                 To support financially you may:

1. Make a tax-deductible donation through paismovement.com/give.
         • For this option be sure to set the chosen designation as ‘give to a specific Pais member’ and in the notes section below that put my name, ‘Katie Briley’.

2. Make an online donation at my GoFundMe page here

3. Mail a check to: 5538 Beechwood Ct, Petoskey M.I. 49770

Thank you all in advance for your support!

                        PREVIOUS YEAR UPDATE:

At this time one year ago I was preparing to move to Brisbane, Australia to begin my year of volunteering in youth ministry. And what a year it has been! I have grown in ways that I never imagined that I would, everywhere from learning to drive on the left side of the road, developing my public speaking abilities, to learning what it means to work in youth ministry full time. It hasn’t all been easy, but it has most definitely been worth it. I am extremely thankful for the opportunities that I have had to affect the lives of the youth in Australia and that I am able to come back again and lead a team for this next year.

This year the majority of my time was spent either running programs at my church or running programs in the local schools.

Church: my team, along with 7 interns, help to plan and run our youth group program that occurs every Friday night. I specifically work with the senior youth group, which encompasses grades 10-12.
o Every week I mentor 3 girls within our youth group, one who is in 11th grade and two who are in 12th.
o We have a drop in center located next door to our church which we open every afternoon for high school students to come hang out before they head home for the night. We have built many connections with youth through this drop in center and a few have even started attending out youth group regularly!
o I am also helping to direct and run a girls camp that will occur during the September school holidays. This is a week long camp for girls in grades 7-12 called Springfest.

School: We are involved in 3 different schools in our area: two high schools and one primary school.
o Within the high schools we run a mentoring program, clubs such as breakfast club and board games club, and daily lunchtime hangouts.
o Within the primary school we run a transition mentoring program, a ball games club, and weekly lunchtime hangouts.

I am looking forward to what this next year brings and I am very thankful for all you have done to support and encourage me on this journey.

                                      Thank you!
