Painter Family Harvey Relief Fund

Donation protected
UPDATE: Tuesday, 9/6/17

It's been 10 days since Aissa, Harry, Emma, James & Scout were evacuated from their home due to rising water from the bayou after the release from the reservoirs. They continue to stay at a hotel and are unable to return to their house to begin the clean-up process as they still have several feet of water in their home. Due to the number of days that their home has been sitting in water, the structural integrity of the home is now in question, and mold is already apparent.

While they have applied for some assistance, because they are unable to get in and access their damages, they have yet to receive any financial relief. Hence, their expenses continue to mount and are coming straight out of their own pocket.

It will take months before they can return home and reoccupy their house. Though they have secured an apartment, they are now faced with the daunting task of trying to fill it and make it livable for their family, on top of the added expense of paying rent for the apartment while continuing to pay their mortgage.

PLEASE continue to keep them in your prayers, and if you haven't already PLEASE consider making a small donation.

All money raised will go directly to Aissa & Harry to overcome this nightmare and assist with the financial strain it has placed upon them.

Much to love to everyone who has already donated and/or supported The Painters with phone calls, a helping hand, warm meals, and everything in between. Your kindness means everything to them!

Originial Post: Sunday, 9/3/17

As you know Hurricane Harvey as devastated much of the Texas Coast. Fortunately, my sister-in law, Aissa Painter, her husband, Harry, their 2 children, Emma & James, and their dog, Scout, made it out safely. However, their house took in several feet of water from the rain and release of water from the Addicks & Barker Cypress Reservoirs. While they understand the sacrifice city officials had to make for the good of the greater city, they are left with a home with 4 to 5 feet of standing, stagnant water from the Buffalo Bayou that is now filled with sewage, debris, and bacteria. To make matters worse, the water is not projected to recede for at least another 10 to 15 days only further delaying the clean-up process and increasing their damages. They have lost everything - their home, car, and all personal belongings. Obviously, the financial hardship to recover will be severe.

Aissa is an incredibly giving person, and an amazing mother, sister, aunt, friend, and teacher.  She is usually the first one to step up and help others, and has spent countless hours volunteering at her children’s schools, teaching catechism at their parish, and raising money for various causes. Harry is also one of the strongest and  most kind-hearted men I know. Even in his family’s most desperate time while their own house was taking in water, he continued to help others in their neighborhood evacuate their homes to safety. He is also very active with his son’s Boy Scouts Den, and even helped my son’s den with their Derby Days pinewood cars.

Aissa & Harry are not the kind to ask for help, but help is what they need. Anything you can donate will greatly be appreciated and will go a long way on their road to recovery.

Thanks in advance & God Bless you!
