Journey & Serve is proud to be partnered with Pachamama Children's School in the Sacred Valley of Peru as our community outreach for our annual journey to Peru.

This small school building is located in the remote countryside in the province of Urubamba, and welcomed the first kindergarten class of 15 students in March of 2023. The school was built entirely by the local community and the land owner, Valentin, who grew up on this farmland. The school offers pre-k and kindergarten (otherwise unavailable in this area) as well as English language classes for the local parents and community, to support the young students' learning outside of school.

In this remote area, the native language is Quechua, and the children learn Spanish as a 2nd language. English lessons are traditionally not offered to children until they reach secondary school (Middle school age). The majority of the families in this area work in farming and agriculture and rarely leave the area.

The school's founder Valentin is passionate about creating opportunity through meaningful education and global learning. His own personal story is a testament to the power of education. You can read his entire story HERE . We are excited to be a catalyst in this vision, and help these children become the change-makers in their community for generations to come!

Our 2025 Goal

This year's journey will raise funds to provide school uniforms (a first for this school!) and new backpacks for the students, as well as additional school supplies, books, and workbooks for the school year. Any donation amount is helpful and we are incredibly grateful for all your support thus far! All funds collected will be used to purchase these items to donate directly to Pachamama Children's School when we visit in March.

Our 2024 Progress:

In 2024 we were able to raise enough funding to purchase a classroom laser printer and copier for the teachers, beautiful new outdoor playground equipment for the children, and 50 Spanish children's books for the classroom library! We also donated another batch of annual school supplies, 20 new backpacks, classroom materials, and one new pair of shoes for each child!

Our 2023 Progress:

On our 2023 journey, we raised over $6,700 and donated 20 Chromebook laptop computers and over $2000 worth of school supplies, backpacks, and furniture to the school! The school now has access to the internet and online learning, which forges a pathway for these children to dream big and envision what's possible all over the world!
