Imagine being stuck in an entry level position. You look for ways to progress, for classes to take, and even offer to work extra hours. You let it be known that you're interested in contributing and desire to grow. Finally, an opportunity presents itself, and you polish your resume! It seems that you meet all of the qualifications. You can't wait to tell your spouse that, finally, you'll be able to start putting money into the savings account! Two weeks pass since you submitted your resume, and you're called into the CEO's office. The meeting goes well...this really looks promising! Later that night you and your spouse celebrate with a glass of wine and animal crackers. You draft up a new budget as your confidence builds on the possibilities. This is really going to happen! A week later you receive an email saying "...we've decided to continue with another candidate, and will keep your resume on file..." This crushes you for about an hour, until you realize another opportunity will come along.
This is not the case with my husband, Andres. He has been stuck in what can be considered an entry level position for more than ten years. It doesn't matter if he takes classes, if he works extra hours, or if he expresses interest in a better position. The option to promote or get a better job simply isn't there until after he gets his residency. Will you help us?
We need $3,450 to cover fees and travel expenses associated with Andres' residency. We also need $1,214 by mid-July to keep Gavriel enrolled at his school, and $375 for hormone therapy for me. These are all high priorities for us, but the most important one is getting Andres' residency.
We can begin the final phase of the residency process as soon as we can make a deposit of $500. The process will take about 6 months, and then Andres will be scheduled for an interview at the consulate in Guatemala. He will travel to Guatemala one week before his interview, and will hopefully be back no later than one week after. We are so close.
Why is getting Andres' residency so important to us? Because, just like you, we want to be able to thrive...not just survive. We want to invest in our kids' education, in our own education, and in general (because student loans are crazy expensive). We want to be able to take care of our parents when they need us, and to be able to actually tithe. We'd like to be able to afford to eat healthy, to maintain our vehicles, and to do projects around the house. All these things will be possible after Andres gets his residency. Please help us.
