Support Faith's Medical Journey

Donation protected
My name is Heather and I am setting up this GoFundMe for my sister Summer and her miracle baby Faith Roselyn. If God puts it on your heart to pray or donate, both are greatly appreciated.

Their story:

After suffering a miscarriage in August 2024, Summer and Edwin found out that they were pregnant again in October of 2024. A true blessing in disguise. This pregnancy has been nothing short of a nightmare and medical wonder at the same time. It was discovered very early on that Summer had two subchorionic hematomas that were not very small. However, they were not hindering the baby's growth in any way. She was thriving. Summer, on the other hand, would not stop bleeding. Summer developed anemia and had pretty significant blood loss. She was constantly exhausted and sick. Doctors could not figure out for sure where the bleeding was coming from, nor could they get it to stop. This led to many appointments and lots of missing work. Thankfully, Summer has an amazing boss, but nonetheless, lots of extra time off. This also led to her husband missing work so he could stay home and care for their other children because she just wasn't able to.

Fast forward to March 10th...

I had called Summer and asked her to meet my daughter at the doctor's office for an emergency baby appointment as I was driving back from Florida and couldn't be there. As she is standing there with my daughter, she is literally bleeding hard enough that it is pooling on the floor beneath her. She goes home and calls me, and I tell her to call the doctor. We end up in the OB emergency room later that night. Dr. Eberts admits her for overnight observation and thank goodness he made her stay. He was insistent on, if you were my daughter you'd be staying and not leaving and she finally agreed.
The morning of March 11th, Summer started having contractions and eventually they lost the baby's heartbeat on the monitor. Everyone came rushing into the room and within minutes she was leaving for an emergency c-section.

Faith Roselyn was born at 7:11 am without a heartbeat. The NICU team was able to resuscitate and intubate her within minutes. Her first day was very touch and go but man is this little girl a fighter. She has a very long road ahead of her and will be in the NICU until July, at least. As of yesterday, 3/13/25, Faith was breathing room air and drinking some breast milk. She has had three blood transfusions and has a small brain bleed. She is giving them hell in the NICU.

Summer has had five blood transfusions now. Her blood numbers will not come up and stay up. They are trying to figure out why. Today her H&H was 7.6. If it drops again tomorrow like it has been, they are going to do a CT scan. They are worried that she is storing the blood she is getting somewhere in her body. At this time, we do not know when she will get to come home either. She will also be getting an iron transfusion today to see if that helps.

Edwin has taken a leave of absence from work so he can try to provide some sort of normal life for their kids at home in the evening and be there for Summer and Faith during the day. As you can imagine, their income has taken quite a hit with them both being off of work. Neither of them gets paid maternity/paternity leave. They did have some money put away, but we all know that won't last long. Medical bills will start to come in, travel expenses are already there (they live 45 minutes from the hospital), all on top of the normal everyday "stuff".

No one is ever prepared for something like this no matter how hard you try. Months in the NICU and days/weeks in the hospital, it's just not possible. Please do not feel obligated, do whatever God puts on your heart!! Please pray for their family no matter what. There is so much power in prayer. I am doing this to help ease the financial burden and because one of the nurses recommended it.

If you made it this far, thank you so much for taking the time! You are truly appreciated!!! God bless!!!
