My name is kiah and I live next door to a wonderful family who have in the last couple days been through a dog family’s worst nightmare.

On Thursday the 14th of August around 8pm Hugo was out for an evening walk on Westgate with his dad Alan and 2 of Alan's 3 young children. Hugo was on the grass playing with kids but got spooked by something over the road and ran out into the road Alan shouted him and ran to him but as hugo ran back towards Alan a van came over the hill at around 60 mph Alan shouted in the road for the van to stop but it carried on swerved around Alan and straight over Hugo. After knowingly hitting Hugo the van didn’t stop leaving Alan to pick him up out the road and carry him home, with the 2 children very distressed witnessing it all. Bay vets have done an amazing job looking after Hugo. He suffered a broken tibia and fibula in one leg and a dislocated elbow in another he has had to undergo 6 hours of surgery and now has a metal plate and pins in his back leg and a splint and bandage on his front leg luckily he survived but the family now have a big vet bill to pay of £3500 and Hugo’s recovery is going to be a long road and they will need to make adaptations to his life to help him recover as well as possible.

This family are very responsible dog owners however as Hugo was off lead Hugo is sadly not covered for this.

i am trying to raise any amount of help i can to support them through this time to not only look after Hugo but to look after their family after this big financial setback and emotionally draining experience. Anything would be very much appreciated
