My name is Nicole. I am a single mother of 5 beautiful children. I am also a mother with focal epilepsy and have been battling seizures for the last 2 years.

Saturday, October 18, 2025, was the worst day of my life. My 11-month-old had her first seizure and went unconscious. After multiple calls to EMS and emergency room visits, seizure after seizure, my sweet Naomi was admitted to the ICU at Toledo Children’s Hospital. During her stay, she had over 15 seizures. After a CAT scan, EEG, and undergoing anesthesia for an MRI, it was confirmed she was having grand mal seizures from the left frontal lobe of her brain. As her doctors are unsure of what is causing the seizures, they have stabilized her on two seizure meds.

Seeing your baby go through a seizure, losing consciousness, and having to be put on oxygen, I really thought I was going to lose her. This all has been traumatizing to the whole family and affecting our day-to-day routine. Throughout all of this, I have been unable to work, making me unable to provide for my family.
