Tax deductible
We are a Native grassroots nonprofit with a mission to strengthen families and connect communities through skateboarding to empower Lakota Youth.
We are raising funds for our current program, a skatepark upgrade and Uhaul services for 2023.
Wolakota Sk8 Camp - Winyans of Shred (meaning Ladies of Shred in Lakota)
Winyans of Shred skate team was launched in 2020 to encourage & empower Lakota female skaters. Our goal is to provide a platform where our winyans (young ladies) graduate highschool & shred onto higher education “college.”
We currently have three eligible Winyans of Shred that will be applying to the 2023 Cal Poly Pomona Native College to Pipeline summer camp in July
Airfare for 3 Winyans of Shred: $1,700
Wolakota Skate Camp: $1,200
Skatepark Upgrade
Outdoor wooden shading @ the Toby Eagle Bull Memorial skate park Wounded Knee 4 Directions. We currently have no permanent shading to compliment the bleachers we raised funds for. Shading would allow for skaters, their families and the community to watch skaters comfortably in the shade. Estimated: $2,800
UHAUL Truck rental
Funds to rent a uhaul truck to drive the Vans (shoes & clothing) donations across country, MD to Pine Ridge, SD- Oglala Lakota Nation. We receive donations from VANS’ stores (Annapolis, Wheaton, Montgomery, Whitemarsh, Townson, and Tysons Corner). Throughout the year, we receive the donations and in July, we pack everything up in a Uhaul - deliver and gift it to the Lakota skateboarders and community during the Toby Classic Skate comp, every August. Estimated $2,300
Any donation amount will help make an impact. Wopila Tanka (Many thanks in Lakota) in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.
