Owen’s Sonic Support Squad

Hello everyone. My name is Joshua Rowe. I am a Senior at Seymour High School, and I have been working at Sonic for over a year and a half. We sadly got the news on April 17 that our last day being open will be Saturday, April 19.
Being young and still early in life, I know that losing this job will not affect me as much as others, but I do know that I will lose my friends that have been alongside me during my journey. Someone in particular really stands out to me. Coming into work after a football game, Owen would always be there to give me a laugh and make everyone smile. Even through his dark times, he still found a way to bring light into the darkness. I feel like the Lord has laid this on my heart to start this fundraiser for him.
Being the main income for his household, Owen brings a lot more than Sonic food home to his house. Working 40 hours a week alone in the kitchen, making everyone smashers and mozzarella sticks the community loves. He will always say, “Come on 3 o'clock” because that's what time he was scheduled to leave. Being in his late 60s, that made it hard to find a job, but we accepted him in as one of us and found that no matter what age someone is and no matter what they are going through, if you have a heart of a lion like Owen, you can succeed in anything.
I want you all to know that I couldn’t ask to work with anyone else than Owen. I’m asking you guys as a community to come together and support Owen. We all loved making food for you and will be missed by many. Live Free and Eat Sonic.
