Help a Community Member and Single Parent Secure New Housing
Donation protected
This fundraiser is being set up by Ohio Valley Mutual Aid for a community member looking to secure housing for themselves and their young child. The funds will be used to help the parent find new housing and full time work using some of the funds toward childcare during this time. This person would like their identity to remain private during this process.
From the recipient of these funds:
"Those of you who know me know that I have been working up the courage to ask for help for months. My child and I need to move but I am in a situation where all of our funds are going to our current space. I have been trying since January to find a full time job, find childcare and relocate to an apartment for my child and I in Pittsburgh or Wheeling. I had hoped for a position to open up around this time but it has been defunded. I am not giving up and right now part of not giving up is asking for help when times get hard.
This money would be life changing for us. It would allow me to find an apartment and have 3 months rent/utilities while I continue to work my 2 jobs and find a more permanent full time job. Additionally the money would pay for childcare I need as a single mother.
Questions you might have:
Am I safe?
Yes, I am safe. I am sad. Life is hard but I am safe.
What is going on? Why are you moving?
I can understand why you would feel like it's important to know this information but I am not comfortable with sharing this part of my life. I trust that you love me and my child enough to help without knowing having to know the details.
Why Wheeling or Pittsburg?
I currently have jobs in Pittsburgh which allow me to bring my child to work. I have a strong community back home in Wheeling to rely on for help with childcare while I transition to other work.
