Dear Friends,
I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to share the story of Adeolu Ogundipe, a 36-year-old individual who is bravely battling congenital bilateral lymphedema of the lower limbs. Adeolu’s journey has been one filled with challenges and hardships, but his determination to seek a better life shines through.
Adeolu’s struggle began from birth, as little was known about lymphedema at that time, and the necessary facilities for treatment were unavailable in Nigeria (his country). Despite undergoing the Homan procedure three years ago, spending over 5 million naira on the procedure, Adeolu experienced a devastating relapse in December 2023, which left him in excruciating pain and suffering. The swellings in his legs tripled, and he endured the agony of lymphorrea, leading to mental and physical exhaustion.
In search of hope and relief, Adeolu sought consultations with hospitals worldwide, including India, Japan, and the US. After careful consideration, he found a ray of hope in India, where advanced microsurgery techniques offer the possibility of a better quality of life. However, Adeolu faces a significant hurdle – the lack of funds to cover the expenses of his surgery.
Today, I urge you to join me in supporting Adeolu’s journey towards healing and freedom from pain. He dreams of a life where he can walk without hindrance, without shame, and without stigma. Lymphedema is not just a physical ailment; it comes with emotional and psychological burdens that Adeolu courageously faces every day. His battle is one that none should fight alone.
Your contribution, no matter how small, can make a world of difference to Adeolu. Together, we can help him access the medical care he urgently needs and deserves. Let’s rally around Adeolu and show him that he is not alone in this fight.
