Our WonderHouse - Getting to Sustainability

Dear Wonderers,  

We are reaching out today with a special note about Our WonderHouse as a project itself: 

In very short: Over the last year, WonderHouse has touched many lives - and we believe it has a reason to be and stay. Part of our vision has always been to enable the WonderHouse to be financially sustainable while accessible to all Wonderers. We are now at a critical point: We need to raise the funds that give us enough time to get to full sustainability - else we sadly need to close the WonderHouse down. The longer version: 
As you know, one year ago the WonderHouse was born out of the belief that we need a space to express and explore ourselves. A place where we can be vulnerable and playful, be on a journey of inner transformation as well as supported and seen. A home for those of us who want to try, to get out of our comfort zone in a safe space without judgment and to connect in meaningful ways. We also call it our #labforthesoul.  

To date around 1,000 Wonderers have stepped out of their comfort zones during over 90 experiences, all brought to life by this beautiful community of Wonderers. We had 10 residents stay at the WonderHouse to focus on projects they care about. The WonderHouse has given some of us the courage to find our voice, the freedom to express ourselves without fear, the audacity to share something we care about but never dared to say, the joy of meaningful connections, the curiosity to explore what resonates, the openness to see things from different perspectives and the love to be more connected with ourselves and others. We are so incredibly grateful for all the love, energy and wonder that has unfolded in and around the WonderHouse. While in the beginning we were wondering if there is a place in people’s heart and life for the WonderHouse, we are now convinced: Many of us love and need the WonderHouse as part of our lives.  ❤️

As many of you also know, the WonderHouse is created as a community project - with the vision to be accessible to all Wonderers while being financially sustainable. In order to be accessible we have the “contribute as you can” model. Our cost per month is approx. 2400 USD, out of which the majority is rent, utilities and support. By now each month we are covering around 30-40% of our cost through contributions, and are on a path to grow this share. This is wonderful as it will allow us to soon sustain the WonderHouse while keeping it accessible to everyone - this is so important to us. Yet — this means that until we get there the remaining cost is still covered by two people from our personal finances. And the possibility to fund the WonderHouse from personal savings is coming to an end. 


Therefore we are now at a critical point: We need to raise the funds that give us enough time to get to full sustainability - else we sadly need to close the WonderHouse down. And so we are starting a fundraising campaign. The funds will enable us to cover the cost of the WonderHouse until the end of the year (seven months - assuming a growing share will be covered through contributions). Our hope is that by the end of the year, we will be able to cover all our cost through contributions from various sources -  while remaining accessible to all Wonderers.   ✅
