Our Volunteer Mission to Tanzania
Donation protected
Hi all! I'm Grace.
This July, I’ll be heading to Arusha, Tanzania with five others from the Dublin Dental University Hospital on a volunteer mission to provide much-needed dental care to communities and orphanages.
Oral health is a huge part of overall well-being, but it’s often overlooked in low-income countries like Tanzania. Many people simply don’t have access to even the most basic dental services, especially in rural areas. As a result, untreated conditions like tooth decay, gum disease, and more serious issues can have a major impact on people’s lives- from pain and infections to difficulty eating, speaking, and working.
In Tanzania, over 30% of children over the age of five suffer from untreated dental caries (tooth decay), largely due to lifestyle factors such as increased sugar intake and a lack of awareness around oral hygiene. These are preventable issues, but without access to care or education, they continue to affect thousands.
We’ll be working directly with local communities and orphanages, providing essential treatments and promoting good oral health habits where they’re needed most.
Any donations will go towards:
✦ Flights
✦ Accommodation
✦ Dental equipment and supplies
✦ Food and basic living costs while we’re volunteering
Every little bit helps, and I truly appreciate any support you can give- whether it’s a donation or just sharing our story.
Thank you ❤️
