Nicol’s Story...
In February last year, Nicol had to give up her housekeeping job, due to immense chronic and debilitating pain in her feet and throughout her whole body. This resulted in a Life Shattering diagnosis of severe Fibromyalgia.
During the past few months, this condition has added a whole new dimension to her mental state of mind. Debilitating constant pain has exacerbated her Autism, making life incredibly tough, causing her to fall into a deep depression.
Her physical condition has deteriorated so much so, even standing or walking just a few meters, comes at the cost of considerable pain. Making it impossible to function and complete simple daily tasks and restricting her ability to leave the house.
We paid privately for many specialists, scans, blood tests etc and stretched our budget to the absolute limit. We even moved to a bungalow as she could no longer manage the stairs.
A few months ago, Nicol found it all quite unbearable and wanted to end it all. We knew then it was the time to start showing her how to FIGHT!
With your help.....
We are hoping to provide our daughter with:
- A powered chair which would vastly improve her quality of life, independence, and give her hope for a brighter future.
- Equipment to assist with personal care in the bathroom.
- Adapt our Kitchen to support her independence in making a meal for herself.
- Even stretch to a short break away in assisted accommodation, giving her something else to look forward to.
Nicol is our 'Tough Cookie' and a fighter! We are trying to support her as best we can, in her battle with this unforgiving condition, in the hope to show her life is worth living and give her a brighter future.
We would also like to share Nicol's story in the hope of creating greater awareness of Fibromyalgia.
