At the Joined Hands Food Pantry we distribute food to hundreds of individuals every week, serving primarily the Portage Park and Jefferson Park areas of Chicago but welcoming folks from all over the city and suburbs.
Last year, the Joined Hands Food Pantry returned to the gymnasium at St John's for our annual Thanksgiving meal. This was the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic that we were able to host a sit-down meal indoors, for which we are so grateful.
We are hosting the Thanksgiving meal again this year, and we are reaching out to the community for support. We had over 500 attendees last year and we are expecting a similar or higher number this year. If you or someone you know is hungry on Thanksgiving, please come to St. John's and join us. No matter who you are or where you came from, if you need community this Thanksgiving, come be a part of ours.
Your donation this year means more than ever. This Thanksgiving will present even more challenges to clients who rely on us with the current uncertainty and delays for SNAP benefits. We are expecting attendance at our weekly food distributions to increase significantly. Your donation will not only ensure that we are able to put on a successful Thanksgiving event, but will also help us supply more food to our neighbors every week during this difficult time.
Thank you for your generous donations and shares - every bit helps!
