Hi friends, they have arrived! Effective today we have guardianship of these little dumplings, Layla and Wyatt.
As many of you know, we have always been very active members in the child care community. Today finally happened as we have quietly and desperately fought for this moment.
Our next chapter has arrived.
6-year old Layla and 5-year-old Wyatt arrived in San Diego on our door step today at 12:30 pm. They have been through a journey that most of us wouldn’t be comfortable imagining. We have prayed, we have cried, and we have hoped that they would finally be in our arms. They are here and we have a long road ahead of us. We only found out that they would be released to us 48 hours ago. These situations don’t move at all, or all at once.
Ella has expressed extraordinary courage and intent in being a mentor to these little love bugs for as long as we are blessed to have them. Right now, that part is unknown. We know not what the future holds, but we believe they are where they need to be now. Minimum 6 months and most likely much longer. We will send updates as we get settled in.
They have never trick-or-treated before, we are all very much looking forward to that. Their birthdays are in November, Christmas is coming, Thanksgiving…We are elated with all of the possibilities to share our love and they’re new home, our home, with them.
We have clothes prepared, food, shelter, toys and are prepared to bless these kiddos in ways they will never forget. They are both enrolling in Ella's school next week. However, we have a small home. One bathroom and they will need to share a bedroom with Ella. We are humbly raising funds for the following items. We would like to purchase bunk beds, bedding, cubbies for their own little areas in their shared room…and most importantly lots of therapy until they are on our insurance plan. The court filings will take some time. We pondered doing this on our own but decided that our community should not be left untapped. They’ve never played sports, rarely went to school and their home life has been very scary for a long time. Therapy is the priority, then sports, art…this is all new to them.
If you received this, we trust you. Either Steph or Krissy decided we should be open with you.
If you cannot give, that DOES NOT MATTER. You are special to us and if nothing else, we are sharing an extraordinary experience with you, our friends.
If you prefer to send hand me down clothes, old toys you don’t need, anything, message is and I will give you our address. We appreciate you!
We wish you a blessed Fall season. We love you and are grateful for your friendship.
