Our journey towards Justice & Equality

Donation protected
Our country, and indeed the world, has a history of inequalities. This history continues to live on today.

Our journey will include learning about the the Civil Rights Movement and the work to change an oppressive, unequal and unjust system. But our inquiry does not end there. We will delve deep into many unequal systems: those of race, caste, economics, environmental injustice, health care in all forms, and the criminal justice system. We will visit with people and organizations and spend time in the stories presented in museums in Atlanta, Georgia, Montgomery, Selma and Birmingham, Alabama. As we visit with these communities, we will offer whatever is asked of us in the spirit of solidarity.

We cannot change what we refuse to see. We go to see, hear, share and process, so we can act.

We will face uncomfortable truths and return to a reality where some of these truths have evolved rather than been eradicated. How many more deaths can we stand as a Black person rings the "wrong" doorbell, or walks in the "wrong" neighborhood carrying a bag of skittles or as a houseless person asks for help? We hear these stories every day in the news. The hearts of mothers and fathers, and other family members and friends are broken as loved ones try to cope with the loss of life, and sometimes just the loss of dignity. Hurtful comments causing pain and trauma have seemed to escalate with the growth of social media.

Yet, we will strive to also return with a spirit of resilience, drawing energy and inspiration from the many ways that people within these communities have worked to reclaim their rights, dignity and narratives from a culture that has historically attempted to silence or erase them.
We plan to return carrying within us the responsibility and conviction to speak, act and work for justice.
Because none of us are free until all of us are free.

Your support makes this effort possible. The service team will pay for many of its expenses but there will be additional expenses for lodging, service van rentals, guides, and food as well as donations to local organizations we meet. Any excess funds will be saved for future service /mission trips and projects.

You are providing a great service to us as we cross many rivers in this journey to learn and grow so that we can love better and work for change. You will be with us in spirit!

We thank you for your support!
